The Piast Route without a car

Which points on the Piast Route you can reach by rail from Gniezno, and which need a car.

The route links places connected with the beginnings of the Polish state. Gniezno is its natural centre and the only point where you stay in the town centre with the station within walking distance.

By rail: Poznań with Ostrów Tumski (40 minutes), Lednogóra with Ostrów Lednicki and the Dziekanowice open-air museum (18 minutes plus a walk), Trzemeszno (20 minutes), Czerniejewo (a little over ten). A three-day programme.

Biskupin, Wenecja and Żnin are served only by the Żnin County Railway starting in Żnin, and no passenger train from Gniezno reaches Żnin. Kruszwica and the ZOO Safari at Rogowo also need a car.

How to get there without a car

by train and bus

By rail: Poznań with Ostrów Tumski, Lednogóra with the walk to Ostrów Lednicki and the open-air museum at Dziekanowice, Trzemeszno and Czerniejewo.

Biskupin, Wenecja, Żnin and Kruszwica need a car or a long-distance bus – passenger traffic on the Gniezno – Nakło line closed in 2000.
